ABBOTS LANGLEY GARDENING SOCIETY

Christmas Social Evening.

Our Christmas Social started off with our secretary and Chairman of Abbots Langley Parish Council, Jane Lay, awarding shiny cups to the local allotment holders for their hard work throughout the year and then on to our entertainment for the evening, Jacky Nutkins imparting her tales of a professional gardener with some thought provoking questions thrown in. How she covers 32 gardens I can’t imagine. That sounds like a lot of hard, but enjoyable work to me. Even though her family was in horticulture it took her 18 years, and starting a family, to make her realise that she was happiest working with plants and has never looked back since.

In the break we had some lovely cheeses and mince pies AND, of course, our sparkly outfit competition. Had I realised that there was chocolate as a prize I might have sparkled up a bit more, still, I will remember that for next year!

We meet at the Manor House Sports & Social Centre on the third Thursday of the month and you can enjoy our social evenings for only £5 for the whole year. Doors open at 7.30pm so you even have time to buy a drink from the bar before the meeting starts. More details on our web site at  http://www.algs.org.uk/ or phone our secretary Jane, on 01923 447281.
